Europe in dire straits: Economic challenges and political turmoil

Thursday March 6th Professor George Papaconstantinou will give a lecture based on his new book: "New World, New Rules" co-authored with Professor Jean Pisani-Ferry (relased November 2024).

As a former Finance Minister and Minister of Environment and Energy in Greece, as well as extensive experience from academia and international government and policy-making, Papaconstantinou brings an impressive contribution to current research and policy analysis. Papaconstantinou is currently the Director of the School of Transnational Governance at the European University Institute, Florence, and the EUI Dean of Executive Education. He is an economist with a PhD from the London School of Economics.

The keynote is followed by a panel debate where Papaconstantinou will be joined by Signe Krogstrup (Governor at Danmarks Nationalbank) and Carl-Johan Dalgaard (Professor and Chair of Economic and Environmental Council, Denmark). Members of the audience will be invited to contribute and ask questions towards the end.

The debate is moderated by Sara Hagemann (Professor of Political Science, KU)
