Euro Area Governance issues before and after Brexit

In cooperation with the Danish Foreign Policy Society, the Danish Economic Society is pleased to invite you to a presentation on Euro Area Governance by Thomas Wieser. The EU and EMU has faced several challenges in recent years, among other things the sovereign debt crisis and the recent British EU referendum. Thomas Weiser, the behind-the-scenes economic ringleader of the Eurogroup, will discuss governance issues of the Euro Area both before and after Brexit. He will also discuss the notion of "variable geometry" - a more flexible approach where the level and speed of integration in the European Union can vary across groups of countries.

Thomas Wieser is an economist, and president of Economic and Financial Committee (EFC) of the European Union as well as the president of the Eurogroup Working Group (EWG) - advisory bodies to the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) and the Eurogroup. The Eurogroup Working Group has been deeply engaged with the financial assistance programs for the trouble economies and the fiscal and financial governance reforms since the crisis.

The event is in English and will take place at CSS, Københavns Universitet, Øster Farimagsgade 5, 1014 København K, room 35.01.01.

Sandwich and beer/Water will be served from 17:00 to 17:30.
